Obituary for Nazzarino A. Bianconi

Nazzarino A.  Bianconi
Nazzarino Anthony “Tony” Bianconi, formerly a long-time resident of Wyndmoor, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, in Spring Meadows of Lansdale. He was 90.

He was the beloved husband of the late Blanche (Maicher) Bianconi for 62 years until her death in 2013.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Gaetano and Aida (Lucchesi) Bianconi.

Tony was a graduate of Dobbins Technical High School, Philadelphia. He also earned an Associate degree from Temple University.

Mr. Bianconi was a U. S. Army veteran, having served as a cook in Tokyo, Japan during World War II.

Tony, also known as “Yen,” had been employed as a senior estimator for 38 years by PGW, Philadelphia.

Mr. Bianconi was a member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hilltown.

Tony was a past vice-president of the PGW Retirees Association and a life-long member of the Flourtown Country Club. He was also a member of the Sons of Italy-Ernest M. Strollo Lodge #683, Flourtown.

A life-long passionate golfer, Tony had also enjoyed gardening and doing handyman projects around the house. He and his wife had enjoyed dining out and traveling. Along with his wife, he had been a member of “The Buckaroos,” a square dancing troupe that performed throughout North America.

Mr. Bianconi is survived by his daughter, Kathryn Bianconi, of Blooming Glen; three grandchildren, Joshua Bryant, of Blooming Glen; Joel Bryant, of Quakertown; and Jenna Bryant, of Los Angeles, California; a sister, Ann James, of Harleysville; a sister-in-law, Frances Maicher, of Wyndmoor; and four nephews, Gerald, Mark, Rudolph, and Gregory Maicher.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Bianconi.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 15, in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 9 Broad Street, Hilltown, PA 18927, where a visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of Mass.

Interment with full military honors will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia.
