Thea (Rohde) Woltmann

July 16, 1924 — December 23, 2013

Thea Woltmann, a resident of Neshaminy Manor, formerly of Hatfield, Pennsylvania and Carle Place, New York, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2013, at Doylestown Hospital. She was the wife of the late Edward Woltmann. She was 89.

Born in Medemstadt, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Ludwig and Margarita Rohde. Thea came to the United States in 1952.

Along with her husband, Mrs. Woltmann had owned and operated the former Woltmann’s Delicatessen, now known as the Village Delicatessen, in Carle Place for over 30 years. The deli was renowned for its quality food and faithful customer base.

Mrs. Woltmann was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Hatfield.

An avid gardener, Thea enjoyed making flower arrangements. She also loved to cook. Her greatest joy, however, was being a grandmother.

Mrs. Woltmann is survived by her two sons: Richard Woltmann and his wife, Emily, of Hatfield; Edward Woltmann and his wife, Lori, of Averill Park, New York; and a grandson, Daniel Woltmann.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Frederick Rohde and Otto Rohde.

Her funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, December 28, in Grace Lutheran Church, 25 West Broad Street, Hatfield, PA 19440. A visitation will be held at the church Saturday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to time of service.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Woltmann’s name to Grace Lutheran Church at the address above.
