Jacob W. Wenhold

July 11, 1921 — August 24, 2015

Jacob W. Wenhold, a life-long resident of Perkasie, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2015, at his residence. He was 94.

He was the beloved husband of Marie S. (Stone) Wenhold for 58 years.

Born in Perkasie, he was the son of the late Hiram B. and Nellie Mae (Bright) Wenhold.

Mr. Wenhold was a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served as a corporal in the Asian Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II.

Jake had been employed as an assembler at the former U. S. Gauge Division, Ametek, Inc., Sellersville, retiring in 1986. Prior to that, he had worked at the former Freed’s Glass Factory, Perkasie; Rolle Casting Company, Inc., Lansdale; and Hunter-Spring, Lansdale.

Mr. Wenhold was a long-time member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Perkasie, where he had served on the Property Committee and as deacon of the Consistory.

Jake was a 70-year member of American Legion Hartzell-Crouthamel Post No. 280, Perkasie, having served as post commander and Sergeant of Arms. Dedicated to honoring our nation’s service people, Jake served on military honor guards for decades and marched yearly in Memorial Day parades. He also placed U.S. flags on veterans’ graves in local cemeteries.

An avid horseman, Jake rode and owned American quarter horses for many years. He was a member of the Bux-Mont Riding Club, Hilltown. He had continued to work well into his eighties as a stable man at Windy Willows Farm, Hilltown.

Family reunions would find Jake challenging one and all to a game of volleyball, another of his athletic interests. Also a talented bowler, he was a member for more than 20 years of a local bowling league.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lori G. Tillger, and her husband, Mike, of Lehman, PA; his son, Michael B. Wenhold, of Perkasie; two grandsons, Angelo L. Georgetti, of Lehman; Marcus A. Georgetti, of Parsons, PA; a brother, Robert B. “Whitey” Wenhold, and his wife, Bonnie; a sister, Patricia Hendricks, and her husband, Darwin, all of Perkasie; and a sister-in-law, Janet Sauerland, of Sellersville.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Laurence M. Georgetti; six brothers, Richard, Raymond, Ronald, Gordon, Kenneth, and Hiram Wenhold; two sisters, Dorothy Bleam and Elaine Sommers, and a brother-in-law, Frederick “Fritz” Miller.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015, in St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, 110 N. 6th St., Perkasie, PA 18944, where a visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Perkasie.
