Dorothy E. Wenhold, of Perkasie, peacefully entered into Eternal rest at her residence on Monday, June 15, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She was 82 years old.
She was the beloved wife of Jackson L. Wenhold for 62 years.
Born in Hilltown, she was the daughter of the late Raymond W. Smith, Sr. and the late Elizabeth (Scholl) Smith Mills. Dot was a graduate of Hilltown High School, Class of 1949.
Dorothy had been employed as a secretary/bookkeeper for the family-owned business, Wenhold Builders, Zion Hill. Prior to that, she had worked as a seamstress with various local clothing companies.
A life-long, active member of St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie, Dot taught Sunday school and catechetical classes for many years. She had also helped with the Kitchen Committee.
For many years Dot had enjoyed regular gatherings with the “Coffee Klatch,” a group of high school friends who still kept in touch.
An avid gardener, Dot had also enjoyed sewing and cooking, especially baking. She also loved playing board games, cards, and bingo. She had enjoyed antique collecting with her husband.
In her younger years, she had played tennis and volleyball. She had also loved snowmobiling with her family. A nature lover, she especially enjoyed the beauty of the ocean.
Dot’s greatest joy, however, was to be found in her roles as a loving wife, Mom, and Mom Mom.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Craig Wenhold and his wife, Tammy, of Quakertown; Michele Krout and her husband, Ron, of Perkasie; three grandchildren: Lauren Wenhold, of Arlington, VA; Lisa Landis and her husband, Ian, of Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Ryan Krout, of Perkasie; a sister, Ethel B. Leatherman, of Souderton; and a brother, Raymond W. Smith, Jr. and his wife, Phil, of Sellersville.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle V. Delp.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 22, in St. Andrew’s Union Cemetery, Perkasie. A Celebration of Life Service and Luncheon will follow at 4 p.m. in St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20 Dill Avenue, Perkasie, PA 18944.
