Terrance R. "Terry" Weachter, 61, of West Rockhill Township, formerly of New London, Connecticut, passed away suddenly at his residence on October 12, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Lynn (Bartl) Weachter for 33 years.
Born in West Rockhill Township, he was the son of the late Robert Weachter and the late Doris (Grimes) Leister. He was a 1967 graduate of Pennridge High School.
Terry was a U. S. Navy veteran, having served during Vietnam on the USS George W. Carver, a nuclear submarine. He later specialized in work with nuclear subs in New London, CT. After 21 years with the Navy, he retired with the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer in 1987.
He had been employed with Lockheed Martin and Boeing, both in New Jersey, and also with General Electric, in Valley Forge. Most recently, Terry had been employed for ten years with Merck, West Point, retiring in March 2010.
Terry was a friend of Bill W.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, bowling, and playing softball. Terry was a Phillies and Eagles fan, and he cheered on his grandson at Pennridge Greenjackets games. He loved his Rottweiler dogs but, most especially, loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Terry is survived by his children: Jarred Weachter and his wife, Julie, of Sellersville; Shanan Smith and her husband, Art, of Perkasie; five grandchildren: Ethan, Jackson, Ashton, Abigail, and Tristan; and a sister, Jane M. Ahlum, of Sellersville.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Weachter.
His Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at 1:00 PM in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where family and friends may call from 12:00 PM until time of service.
Interment with military honors will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Terry’s memory to the Bucks County SPCA, 1665 Street Road, Box 277, Lahaska, PA 18931.
