Theodore E. Von Mechow, Jr.

Theodore “Ted” E. von Mechow, Jr., a long-time Sellersville resident and the beloved husband of the late Carolyn “Lynne” A. von Mechow, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. He was 86.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Ted was the son of the late Theodore E., Sr. and Ellen (Doyle) von Mechow. A graduate of Archmere Academy, Claymont, Delaware, Ted would later earn his Bachelor of Science degree from St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia.

Ted and Lynne were married 64 years until her passing in November 2023.

Mr. von Mechow had been employed as a systems analyst at the former U. S. Gauge Division, Ametek, Inc., Sellersville and Ametek, Inc., in Paoli. He retired in 2001 after 37 years of service.

An active lifelong member of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Sellersville, Ted had served on the Pastoral Council and Finance Council and with the St. Agnes Parishioners in Service. Over the years he was also a Minister of Communion, one of the Men of Faith, in RCIA, and, particularly, an influential force in the Charismatic Prayer Group. Ted was also Grand Knight in the regional Knights of Columbus.

A devoted supporter of his community, Ted helped to start the Boy Scouts troop in Sellersville. He was elected to the Sellersville Borough Council, serving two terms from 1974 to 1981. He was also particularly active with the local food pantry, Pennridge FISH, being involved from its beginning in 1972 and serving as president from 2001 to 2015.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed researching family genealogy. Ted traveled extensively with his family and was known to squeeze in both hobbies during his excursions. He especially enjoyed spending time with his ever-growing family.

Mr. von Mechow is survived by his children: Tod von Mechow (Sue), Carrie von Mechow, Mary Beth Liddle (Scott), Meg Bardar (Dennis), Peter von Mechow (Diane), Amy Porter (Matt), and Jerome von Mechow; his 13 grandchildren; and 12 great- grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Thomas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 11 A.M. in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, 445 N. Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 A.M.

Interment will follow in the adjoining parish cemetery.
