Carolyn “Lynne” A. von Mechow, beloved wife of Theodore “Ted” E. von Mechow, Jr., entered her eternal rest on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at her residence at The Community at Rockhill, West Rockhill Township. She was 85.
Lynne was born at home on North Main Street, Sellersville to Charles P. and M. Adelaide (Groves) Hufnagle.
At the age of 16, she survived polio. A graduate of Lansdale Catholic (Little Flower) High School, Class of ’56 and Fitzgerald Mercy School of Nursing ’59, Lynne was later a Summa Cum Laude graduate of LaSalle University, earning her BSN, in 1991.
Lynne started her nursing career at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville, where she was a Clinical Charge Nurse/Staff Nurse for nine years, Head Nurse of ICCU from 1976-1980, and then Medical-Surgical Clinical Educator from 1980 until her retirement in 2000.
Lynne was a Volunteer Facilitator of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Bucks County Family Services, supporting patients with AIDS/HIV, their families, and significant others. Following the ’72 Hurricane Agnes flood, Lynne organized relief and support for the residents of Swoyersville, PA.
A lifelong active member of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Sellersville, Lynne was honored with the 2007 Stewardship Award for her service to the parish. She completed her three-year Archdiocesan Church Ministry course and served on the Archdiocese Committee for Charismatic Renewal and as a member of the Apostolate of Fatima House.
Lynne loved nature, gardening, bird watching, camping, singing, reading, scrapbooking, and, most especially spending time with her family.
In addition to her beloved husband, Lynne is survived by her children: Tod von Mechow (Sue), Carrie von Mechow, Mary Beth Liddle (Scott), Meg Bardar (Dennis), Peter von Mechow (Diane), Amy Porter (Matt), and Jerome von Mechow; her 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Mroz; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Alice Hufnagle, and her brother-in-law, Ted Mroz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 11 a.m. in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, 445 N. Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held Monday evening, November 27, from 6 -7:30 p.m. and Tuesday, November 28, from 9:30-10:45 a.m.
Interment will follow in the adjoining parish cemetery.
