Margery M. VanOmmeren, formerly of Harleysville and Perkasie, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024, in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. She was 95.
She was the beloved wife of the late Willard VanOmmeren for 56 years until his death on July 22, 2007.
Born on October 1, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Marion S. (Worthington) Boorse. Marge was a graduate of Sell-Perk High School and Rider College, Trenton, NJ, where she earned a secretarial degree.
Margery was primarily a wife, mother, and homemaker. She had also assisted with secretarial office work for her husband’s construction business, Branch Valley Associates, Inc.
Mrs. VanOmmeren was a long-time active member of Immanuel Leidy’s Church, Souderton, where she was a member of the choir and volunteered with the Kitchen Committee.
For many years, Marge had also been a dedicated volunteer at Grand View Hospital and with Grand View Hospice.
She loved her family, Bible reading, praying, traveling, and dogs.
Mrs. VanOmmeren is survived by her two sons: Robert and his wife, Kristene, of Highlandville, Missouri; James and his wife, Catharine, of Fogelsville; and five grandchildren: Jonathan, Andrew, Elizabeth, Gregory, and Sharon. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel.
Her memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, February 21, in Immanuel Leidy’s Church, 273 West Cherry Lane, Souderton, PA 18964.
Interment will be private.
