James F. Trout, 77, of Hatfield, formerly of Franconia, passed away Monday morning, February 27, 2012, in Doylestown Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy A. (Helm) Trout for 21 years.
Born in Lansdale, he was the son of the late Sylvanus H. and Ida (Huston) Trout. He was a 1952 graduate of Lansdale High School.
Jim was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War.
He had been employed for many years in the maintenance department with the North Penn School District, retiring in 1999. Recently, he had worked for the Manheim Auto Auction in Hatfield.
Jim enjoyed traveling and camping. He also had played golf. He was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan.
Mr. Trout had been a member of the Hatfield American Legion Post 933 and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1539, Sellersville.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children: Keith Trout, and his wife, Fran, of Ellicott City, Maryland; and Sherri Ann Moyer, of Northampton; three step-children: Timothy Slear, of Fort Lewis, Washington; Deirdre Diver; and Stephen Slear, both of Hatfield; two grandsons: Sean Moyer and Alexander Trout; three step-grandchildren: Erica Diver; Nathaniel Slear; and Paulin Slear; one great-granddaughter, Ashley Linn Moyer; and his two cats: "Sugar" and "Missy."
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Trout.
His funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 3, 2012, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call Saturday morning at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.
Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery, Lansdale.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mr. Trout’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
