Maryanne Elizabeth Thomson

November 28, 1961 — December 29, 2019

Maryanne Elizabeth Thomson, of Sellersville, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019, in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township after a battle with cancer. She was 58.

She was the beloved wife of Glenn J. Thomson for 30 years.

Born in Germantown, she was the daughter of the late Charles Robert and Mary (Donnelley) Guest.

Maryanne had been employed in a variety of careers through the years. She worked as a waitress at various restaurants, as a receptionist in different industries, as a customer service representative at a medical supply company, and as a security call dispatcher. She also had an entrepreneurial spirit, which was shown when she started her own gift basket company in the early 2000s.

Maryanne was raised in Lansdale, Pennsylvania and graduated from Lansdale Catholic High School in 1979. She moved to Sellersville in 1995 and resided there throughout the rest of her life.

When her daughter was young, Maryanne had volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and with the PTA. She had many friends through her involvement with the community.

Maryanne also enjoyed traveling, with favorite destinations including Southern California, Aruba, and the Jersey Shore. She enjoyed visiting Saint Joseph’s University and going to basketball games there. Her daughter moved to the Washington, D.C. area in 2015, and she loved visiting her. She loved seeing the Air and Space Museum, the cherry blossoms, and the quaint streets of Old Town Alexandria. More importantly, she was always sure to indulge in chicken and biscuit sandwiches (with a side of biscuits and gravy, of course) from her favorite D.C. area restaurant.

Maryanne was a dog lover, having many dogs over the years. She was passionate about animal rescue and enjoyed spoiling her grand-dog, “Quincy,” very much. She also had a forever faithful companion, “Bella,” by her side since adopting her in 2016.

Maryanne was a compassionate person, a true food lover, a TV aficionado (especially shows such as “NCIS” ), a diehard Eagles fan, a rap music lover, a makeup guru, but also importantly: a warm mother, a loving wife, and a strong spirit that lit up the lives of many. Her sense of humor was known to put those she knew into fits of laughter. She was a fan of Hunter S. Thompson and employed the quote, “when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro” as one of her life’s taglines.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Thomson is survived by her daughter, Ally M. Thomson (Dan), of Washington D.C.; her brother, Joseph Guest, of Torrance, CA; her dog, “Bella”, and her grand-dog, “Quincy.” She also leaves many beloved family members and friends behind.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Guest.

Her memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m., on Friday, January 3, 2020, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. until time of service.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Thomson’s name may be made to Last Chance Ranch. Checks can be made out to “Last Chance Ranch” and sent to Last Chance Ranch, 9 Beck Road, Quakertown, PA 18951. There is also an option to donate online: http://www.lastchanceranch.org/donate/.
