Jeanette E. Summerville

October 22, 1929 — July 16, 2017

Jeanette E. Summerville, of Willow Street, PA, formerly of Laurel, MD, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2017, at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy, PA. She was 87.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late George and Dagny (Hansen) Smith.

Upon her graduation from Lincoln High School, Philadelphia, Jean worked as the secretary to the Commander of Army Intelligence, Fort Meade, MD.

She was of the Episcopal faith.

Jean enjoyed traveling and had a passion for reading, a trait that she passed on to her family.

Jeanette is survived by her two daughters, Lori Ryan and her husband, Jim, of Brick, NJ; Sheri Summerville and her companion, Wayne Boulden, of Rising Sun, MD; a daughter-in-law, Jan Summerville, of Millersville, MD; and four grandchildren, Ryan, Rick, Dan, and Stacey.

She was preceded in death by a son, Rick Summerville, who passed away in 2013.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 20, 2017, at the Bryn Athyn Cathedral, 900 Cathedral Road, Bryn Athyn, PA 19009.

Interment will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery, Huntingdon Valley, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 Eighteenth Street, Washington, DC 2006 or the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
