Sybella C. "Bella" Sulzbach, 92, of Souderton, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2010, in Belle Haven Nursing Home, Quakertown. She was the beloved wife of the late David W. Sulzbach, who died in 1973.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late James Franklin and Mary Emma (Buchner) Campbell. Bella was a 1935 graduate of Frankford High School. She received her RN from Homeopathic Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia.
Bella was employed as the first director of nursing for the former Elm Terrace Hospital, Lansdale. She later was the director of nursing during the opening of Folkways Nursing Home, Springhouse. Following her certification in nursing home administration, she served as administrator of the former Garden Court Nursing Home and, later, Briar Leaf Nursing Home, both of Doylestown, retiring in 1981.
Bella was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Souderton.
She loved the shore, reading and making crafts. Bella especially loved traveling and staying in Elderhostels with her sister and friends. Her most memorable trip was her visit to Scotland. Most of all, Bella loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her two children: Robert F. Sulzbach, and his wife, Ellen, of Newark, Delaware, and Doris S. Kaucher, and her husband, Erwin, of Souderton, with whom she resided; five grandchildren: Erwin David Kaucher; Weston Scott Kaucher; Mary Elizabeth Sulzbach; Dr. Stephen Edward Sulzbach and Rhoda Creasy; two great-grandchildren: Jacob Creasy and Bella Grace Sulzbach; and a sister, Mary Emma Fretz, Lansdale.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth White, and a brother, Franklin James Campbell.
Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 17, at 2:00 PM in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon, from 1:00 PM until time of service.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations in Bella’s name be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3551 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140, or online at www.shrinershq.org.
