Geraldine M. Struber, of Sellersville, formerly of Perkasie, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015, in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert F. Struber for 56 years until his death in 2000. She was 95.
Born in Perkasie, she was the daughter of the late Samuel L. and Vera (Mitman) Moyer. Gerrie was a 1938 graduate of Sell-Perk High School.
She had been employed as an assembler with the former U. S. Gauge Division, Ametek, Inc., Sellersville. When her children were young, she had worked part-time as a packer at Josten’s, of Souderton, and as a cafeteria worker at Sellersville Elementary School. She returned full-time to Ametek, retiring in 1984, with over 21 years with the company.
From 1960-1967, the family re-located to Ontario, Canada because of her husband’s job.
Mrs. Struber was a lifelong member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Perkasie, where she had taught Sunday school and been active with the women’s group.
She had volunteered with the Girl Scouts and supported the various Pennridge Legion baseball teams coached by her husband.
An avid card player, Gerrie also loved reading, swimming, and following baseball, from Little League to the Philadelphia Phillies. For many years, she enjoyed monthly gatherings with the Pal Club, a group of high school friends.
Summers were spent at the family cottage on the Mississippi River in Almonte, Canada. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and many friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Ehrhart, of Chalfont; two grandchildren: Justin Alderfer and his fiancée, Ali Velez, of Los Angeles, CA; Ian Ehrhart, and his wife, Rebecca, of Chester Springs, PA; a great-granddaughter, Zoe Ehrhart; and her son-in-law, Gerald C. Alderfer, of Sellersville.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jill S. Alderfer, who died March 2, 2015.
Her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2015, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow in St. Stephen’s U.C.C. Cemetery, Perkasie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grand View Hospice, 700 Lawn Avenue, Sellersville, PA 18960.
