It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond F. Stock Jr., of Sellersville. Ray, a beloved father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2025. He was 84.
Born in Lansdale, Ray was the son of the late Raymond Sr. and Dorunda M. (Grimes) Stock.
Following his graduation from North Penn High School in 1958, Ray enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served nobly, earning his Driver and Mechanic Badge, his Parachutist Badge, and a Good Conduct Medal before his honorable discharge in 1961.
Employed as a machinist and tool and die maker for more than 30 years at the former U. S. Gauge Division, Ametek, Inc, in Sellersville, Ray opted for early retirement. However, retirement found Ray anything but retired, as he filled his time with all kinds of work and with favors for those he valued. Whatever needed to be done, Ray could, and would, do it.
An avid fisherman, Ray’s greatest passion was saltwater fishing. He enjoyed taking family and friends fishing at Townsends Inlet in Sea Isle City, NJ. One of Ray’s proudest moments was his victory in a New Jersey fishing tournament. The striped bass weighed in at more than 56 pounds and earned him a cache of Penn fishing equipment and a story to share. That prize catch was mounted and remains proudly displayed in his home.
While Ray was a man of few words, his family, friends, and neighbors knew him as someone who could always be counted on to answer a question, to lend a tool or to help out with a mechanical repair or home project, while never wanting anything in return.
Ray is survived by his two daughters: Donna Stock (Chris Odom), of Sellersville, and Cheryl Fischer (Cord), of Chalfont; his two grandchildren: Olivia Fischer and Ian Fischer; and his three siblings, Barbara Gouak, Carole Schueck (Jerry) and Albert Stock (Nancy).
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Stock.
A celebration of Ray's life, as well as a military honor service, will be held by the family at a later date.
