Margaret M. (Stieber) Sokol
November 28, 1925 — July 29, 2007
Margaret M. Sokol, 81, of Quakertown, formerly a forty year resident of Sellersville, passed away Sunday morning, July 29, at Genesis Health Care-Quakertown Center, Quakertown.
Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Schulze) Stieber.
Margaret was a graduate of St. Hubert’s High School, Philadelphia.
She was employed as a computer operator for 15 years with Hatfield Recon., Hatfield, retiring in 1990.
Margaret was a longtime member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville, where she was a former choir member and had served on the Mother’s Guild.
She loved oil painting and enjoyed bowling and playing pinochle. Margaret was also a huge Phillies fan.
She is survived by her two sons: Edward J. Sokol, Jr. and his wife, Karen, Sellersville; John J. Sokol, Telford; one daughter: Maggie M. Hooven and her husband, Joe, Haycock Township; four grandchildren: Stefanie, Eddie, Katie, and Joey; one brother: George Stieber and his wife, Joanne, Newtown; and two sisters: Dorothy Opilla and her husband, Paul, Topton; and Gertrude Gauker and her husband, John, Langhorne.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters: Sister Maria Barat IHM, Loretta Callanan, Anne Kelly, Francis Stieber, and Vincent Stieber.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 2, at 10: 00 AM in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call at the Church Thursday morning from 9:00 AM to 9: 45 AM.
Interment will be in Sellersville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association-Southeast Pennsylvania, Memorial Fulfillment Center, 777 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15235 or to St. Agnes Catholic Church at the address above.
