Jane L. Smith

Jane L. Smith, of Sellersville, formerly of Cape May Court House, NJ and Philadelphia, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at the Community at Rockhill, West Rockhill Township. She was 97.

She was the beloved wife of the late William J. Smith for 26 years until his death in 2011. She was also the beloved wife of the late John “Jack” Johnson for 24 years until his death in 1973.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Helen (Bloomer) Snyder.

Jane was a homemaker.

While living in Philadelphia, Jane had enjoyed playing golf and traveling with friends. After moving to Cape May Court House, Jane spent many days on the Stone Harbor beach. She also enjoyed trips to the casinos.

As a former member of Our Lady of the Angels in Cape May Court House, Jane, as a social activity, cleaned the church with friends on a weekly basis. During this time Jane and Bill were also “Snow Birds” in St. Petersburg, Florida for many years.

Jane moved to the Community at Rockhill in 2010. She often said that although she never had gone to college, she felt as if she lived in a college dorm. Jane appreciated and loved her neighbors, who thoughtfully care for each other.

Jane was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for playing “so big” with her great-granddaughter and sharing her snacks with her great-grandson, as her final joys. Jane was outgoing, animated, and social and enjoyed being in the company of family and friends. She will be missed by many.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her son, Chris M. Johnson, and his wife, Karen; her step-children: Deborah Wertan and her husband, Denny, Robert Smith and his wife, Kathy, and Cass Bleiler and her husband, Bob; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Johnson; two brothers, Herbert Snyder and Samuel Snyder; and a step-son, William Smith.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am, Saturday, February 26, in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Smith’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
