Violet B. Sitko, a long-time resident of Sellersville, passed away suddenly Thursday, June 4, 2015, in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph L. Sitko, Sr. for 41 years until his death in 1987. She was 96.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas, Sr. and Valeria (Taujanska) Rims.
Mrs. Sitko was a homemaker.
She was a long-time member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville.
A 50 year member of the Tylersport Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Mrs Sitko worked at all of the company’s dinners, breakfasts, and fundraisers.
An avid gardener, she maintained multiple flower beds, including her beloved wild daisies. Violet loved to bake and can and care for the farm animals, especially the chickens. She was also a devoted Philadelphia Phillies fan.
With a warm, generous heart, Violet touched countless lives. She was the anchor of her family, a true friend to many, and a positive, loving influence to all.
She is survived by her nine children: Dolores V. Sitko; Joseph L. Sitko, Jr. and his wife, Karen, all of Sellersville; Kathryn Pettie and her husband, Russell, of Westfield (Tioga County); Carol Slayman and her husband, David, of Telford; Edward J. Sitko; Constance Grabowski; Frances Sitko; Henry J. Sitko and his wife, Theresa, all of Sellersville; and Patricia Thorn and her husband, Philip, of Niceville, FL.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Lorie A. Garges, Christine Croissette, Daniel Pettie, Gregory Pettie, Bryan Slayman, Andrea Grabowski, Mandy Sitko, Amber Milkeris, and Ashlee Thorn; nine great-grandchildren: Lucas Garges, Alicia Garges, Lisa Croissette, Emily Croissette, Gracie Croissette, Maximillian Sitko, Violet D. Sitko, Bryce Milkeris, and Kennedi Milkeris; two brothers: Thomas Rims, Jr., of Hilltown; Anthony Rims, of Martinsburg, VA; and one sister, Amelia Conkling, of Hilltown.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three grandsons: Matthew Grabowski, Andrew Thorn, and Clayton Sitko; and four siblings: Helen Rims, John Rims, Frances Rims, and Edwin J. Rims.
A visitation will be held from 7-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, June10, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 11, in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, with a visitation at the church from 8:30 a.m. until 9:45 a.m.
Interment will be in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hilltown.
