Ray B. Shaffer

December 28, 1931 — August 14, 2008

Ray B. Shaffer, 76, a life-long resident of Sellersville, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 14, at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn (Miller) Shaffer for 55 years.

Born in Sellersville, he was a son of the late Melvin and Lucretia “Peg” (Wagner) Bedford.

He was a U. S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.

Ray had been employed as a sheet metal worker for 33 years at Perkasie Industries, Perkasie, retiring in 1994.

He was a member of the Paletown Rod and Gun Club, Quakertown; the former North Penn Beagle Club, Haycock Township; and the Bux-Mont Coon Club, West Rockhill Township.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also a talented woodworker.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Gerald and his wife, Betsy (Apple) Shaffer, Perkasie; Garry Shaffer and his wife Michele, Quakertown; a grandaughter, Shelby Shaffer, Perkasie; and two brothers: James Bedford and his wife, Irma, Sellersville; Jack Bedford and his wife, Elva, Sellersville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Shaffer’s memory to Paletown Rod and Gun Club, c/o Ronald Stevenback, 740 East Pumping Station Road, Quakertown, PA 18951.

There will be no services.
