Joseph S. Serpiello, 85, of Sellersville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, in his residence at Rockhill Mennonite Community, West Rockhill Township. He was the husband of Sylvia Serpiello for 27 years.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Michael and Constantina (DiImperio) Serpiello.
Joe was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II.
Along with his wife Sylvia, Mr. Serpiello co-owned and operated Metal Specialties Company, Applebachsville, for 14 years before retiring in 1991.
He was a long-time member of St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sellersville.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his four sons: Joseph W. Serpiello; R. James Serpiello; John Serpiello; and Jerry Serpiello; one daughter, Nancy J. Serpiello; two step-daughters: Dawn Freeman and Leigh Edelman; four grandchildren: Laura; Andrea; Tirzah; and Daniel; two step-grandchildren: Taylor and Bonnie; four great-grandchildren: Alexa; Jordon; Addie; and Elijah; one sister, Lucy Elia; two brothers: Michael Serpiello and Frank Serpiello; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Daniel Serpiello and Leonard James Serpiello; and a sister, Rose.
Services are private at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be in Sellersville Cemetery.
