Walter S. Senkow

Walter S. Senkow, a long-time resident of Sellersville, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, at Phoebe Richland Health Care Center, Richlandtown. He was the beloved husband of the late Arlene M. (Burkhardt) Senkow for 66 years until her death in 2012. He was 88.

Born in New Hope, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Mokrycki) Senkow.

Mr. Senkow was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II.

Walter had been self-employed as a plumbing and heating contractor. He had also previously owned and operated the former Almont Hotel for many years.

Mr. Senkow was a lifetime member of the Pike Township Sportmen’s Association, of Oley.

An avid sportsman, Walter enjoyed trap shooting, fishing and hunting.

Mr. Senkow is survived by his children: Diane F. Purcell and her husband, Alan Leitner, of East Granby, CT; Walter R. Senkow and his wife, Pamela, of Sellersville and Dushore (Sullivan County); four grandchildren: Christine Wilson and her husband, Todd, of Hardwick, MA; William Purcell and his wife, Jennifer, of Virginia Beach, VA; Jacob Senkow and his wife, Laura; Jed Senkow, all of Sellersville; six great-grandsons: Jack, Zack, Luke, and Cole Wilson; Will and Sam Purcell; a great-granddaughter, Alison Joy Senkow; and a brother-in-law, Paul Burkhardt, of Perkasie.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Senkow was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Meghan Arlene Wilson; three sisters: Mary Brillman, Catherine Milke, and Victoria Lokay; and five brothers: Stephen, Michael, Jacob, Samuel, and Daniel Senkow.

His funeral service will be held at 1p.m. on Saturday, November 9, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA. Family and friends may call Saturday at the funeral home from 12 noon until time of service.

Interment with full military honors will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Perkasie.
