Arlene M. (Burkhardt) Senkow

July 13, 1925 — February 8, 2012

Arlene M. Senkow, 86, of Sellersville, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Clare Bridge of Dublin- Brookdale Senior Living, Dublin. She was the beloved wife of Walter S. Senkow for 66 years.

Born in Perkasie, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Minnie (Koder) Burkhardt. Arlene was a 1943 graduate of Sell-Perk High School.

After graduation, she had been employed stitching baseballs at Hubbert’s, of Perkasie. Arlene was primarily a homemaker after her marriage.

Mrs. Senkow was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie, where she volunteered in the church office and with the Kitchen Committee.

While her children were young, she served as a Cub Scout den mother.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Diane F. Purcell and her husband, Alan Leitner, of East Granby, Connecticut; Walter R. Senkow and his wife, Pamela, of Sellersville and Dushore (Sullivan County); four grandchildren: Christine Wilson and her husband, Todd, of Hardwick, Massachusetts; William Purcell and his wife, Jennifer, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Jacob Senkow and his wife, Laura; Jed Senkow, all of Sellersville; six great-grandchildren: Jack, Zack, Luke, and Cole Wilson; Will and Sam Purcell; and a brother, Paul Burkhardt, of Perkasie.

Mrs. Senkow was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Meghan Arlene Wilson, and three sisters: Ella Worthington; Alice Price; and Frances Burkhardt.

Services are private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 19 South Fifth Street, Perkasie, PA 18944.
