William A. Senior, 86, a long-time resident of Perkasie, passed away after a lengthy illness Monday evening, March 31, at the Lutheran Community at Telford. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. (Boyer) Senior, to whom he was married for sixty years.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Edward and Anna (Nelling) Senior. He was a 1940 graduate of Sell-Perk High School.
Mr. Senior was a US Navy veteran, having served during World War II.
He had been employed at Ametek, Inc., U. S. Gauge Division, for 33 years, retiring in 1984.
Mr. Senior was a long-time member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie, where he volunteered in the office, served on the property committee, and worked on the kitchen crew, preparing meals and washing dishes.
He was a member of the VFW Forrest Lodge 245, Sellersville. He was a member of the Pennridge Community Senior Center, where he volunteered with the fundraising breakfasts. Bill was a member of the Perkasie Historical Society, where he helped to run the refreshment stand at the Perkasie Carousel. He also volunteered at the Pennridge Chamber of Commerce.
An avid fan of all local sports teams, Mr. Senior was one of the founders of the Pennridge Little League.
Known for his spirit of volunteerism, Bill was honored in July 1997 as the Pennridge Community Citizen of the Year.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Senior most enjoyed attending the activities of his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children: Bruce Senior and his wife, Mary Ann, Boyertown; Brenda Price and her husband, Douglas, Perkasie; three granddaughters: Katie, Erin, and Lauren; two sisters: Jeanne Schwager and Bette Trauger, both of Perkasie; a brother: Donald Senior, Perkasie; a brother-in-law, James Boyer, and his wife, Doris, Perkasie; a sister-in-law, Gloriann Beer and her husband, James, Kulpsville.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Geoffrey Senior, in 2005.
A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held Sunday afternoon, April 6 at 3:00 PM in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 19 South Fifth Street, Perkasie, PA 18944, where friends may call beginning at 2:00 PM until time of service. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Kitchen Crew at the address above.
