Muriel (Hopkins) Scott

August 17, 1925 — May 2, 2008

Muriel Hopkins Scott, of Sellersville, passed away early Friday morning, May 2, at her residence. She was 82. She was the wife of the late William H. Scott for 59 years.

Muriel leaves behind a family of five children: Gary W. Scott and his wife, Barbara; Gregory J. Scott and his wife, Terri; Glenn G. Scott and his wife, Bridget; Gerald L. Scott and his wife, Patricia; and Rebecca Ann (Scott) Lee and her husband, Larry; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Born August 17, 1925, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Giles A. and Edith (Silvius) Hopkins.

Muriel received her nursing diploma from Thomas Jefferson University School of Nursing in 1946 and enjoyed a nursing career at Grand View Hospital, as well as medical practices in the Pennridge area.

A long-time member of St Paul's United Church of Christ, Sellersville, Muriel was also an active member of the Sellersville Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary.

Known among her friends as “Scotty,” her interests included caring for a host of family pets (domestic and wild), bird watching, flower and vegetable gardening. Muriel will be remembered most for her engaging smile, warm heart, wonderful story telling, love of nature, and her family, who are better people because of her kindness and nurturing, unconditional love. May she rest in well-deserved eternal peace.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that condolences be expressed in the form of memorial contributions to Grand View Hospice, 700 Lawn Avenue, Sellersville, PA 18960 or the Sellersville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, P. O. Box 315, Sellersville, PA 18960.
