Francis Schwager, Jr., 80, a life-long resident of West Rockhill Township, passed away Monday evening, June 11, in Rockhill Mennonite Community, West Rockhill Township. He was the beloved husband of Flora Jane (Shelmire) Schwager for the past 36 years.
Born in West Rockhill Township, he was a son of the late Francis, Sr. and Katie (Musselman) Schwager.
Mr. Schwager was a US Army veteran, having served during World War II. He had served with the 65th Division and the 261st Infantry Regiment, participating in the Rhineland and Central European Campaigns.
He had been employed as the road master for West Rockhill Township for over 30 years, retiring in 1988. Additionally, he was employed as a constable in West Rockhill Township from 1966-1967. He had previously been employed as a foundry worker for a Lansdale foundry.
He was a former member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, (Almont), Sellersville.
Frank enjoyed gardening, woodworking, hunting, and fishing. He especially loved the seashore.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Schwager is survived by four daughters: Shirley A. DeLong, Perkasie; Joanne Dry, Harleysville; Janet L. Yerger, Reading; Evelyn K. Bitner, Coopersburg; a sister: Verna Klinger, and her husband, Alfred, Telford; seven grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 16, at 11 AM at Jerusalem Lutheran Church, (Almont), 733 Ridge Road, Sellersville . Friends and family may call at the church Saturday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Quakertown.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions may be made to: Grand View Hospice, 700 Lawn Avenue, Sellersville, PA 18960 or Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 733 Ridge Road, Sellersville, PA 18960.
