Lawrence R. Schroy

Lawrence R. Schroy, 71, a 40-year resident of Quakertown, passed away Monday evening, March 30, 2009, in the VNA Hospice of St. Luke’s, Lower Saucon Township. He was the beloved husband of Nancy J. (Frederick) Schroy for 49 years.
Born in East Rockhill Township, he was a son of the late Clarence and Kathryn (Lewis) Schroy. He was a 1955 graduate of Quakertown High School.
Mr. Schroy had worked for 44 years at the U.S. Gauge Division of Ametek, Inc., Sellersville, retiring in 1999. Following his retirement, he had been employed part-time at Trumbauer’s Lawn and Garden, Quakertown.
Lawrence was a long-time member of the former Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Almont, West Rockhill Township, and he had served for 40 years as the superintendent of Rockwild Union Sunday School, West Rockhill Township.
He enjoyed hunting and was a sports fan, especially of Phillies baseball. Lawrence loved attending car shows and often showed his 1965 Corvair convertible and 1961 Corvair pick-up.
Mr. Schroy loved Christmas holiday celebrations and was known for having the best Christmas displays. He always played Santa Claus for visitors in the front yard of his home and for the Sunday School classes.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Schroy is survived by his three children: Robin Schroy; Brian L. Schroy, and his wife, Jean; and Lisa A. Dorney, and her husband, Peter, all of Quakertown; five grandchildren: Stephen; Ashley; Brandon; Collyn; and Kirsten; and a brother, Henry Kelly, and his wife, Leeann, of Bethlehem.
His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 12:00 Noon in Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church (Almont), 733 Ridge Road, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call at the church Saturday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
Interment will be in Jerusalem Union Cemetery, Almont, West Rockhill Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rockwild Union Sunday School, c/o Brian L. Schroy, 454 West Paletown Road, Quakertown, PA 18951.
