Michael K. Schmell, a resident of Buckingham Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Perkasie, passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 14. He was 57.
Born in Doylestown, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Caroline (Irwin) Schmell. He was a 1973 graduate of Pennridge High School.
Mr. Schmell had been employed as an electronics engineer with FMC-Link Belt, of Lansdale; Malco Inc., of Montgomeryville; and LCR Electronics Inc., of Norristown.
Mike had volunteered with the Plumsteadville Fire Department by working in the kitchen for their roast beef dinners. He was renowned for his pickled cabbage.
Big-hearted and generous, Michael loved to spend time with his nieces and nephews and his beloved cats and dogs.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing cards. A passionate Philadelphia sports fan, Mike loved following the Eagles, Phillies and Flyers.
Michael is survived by a sister, Cathy Lippincott, and her husband, Jack; three brothers: Charles Schmell and his wife, Janet; Bob Schmell and his wife, Cindy; Chris Schmell; several nieces and nephews; and a
great- niece.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 21, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville 18960. Family and friends may call Thursday morning at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
Interment will follow in Beulah Cemetery, New Britain.
