Stephen W. Schell, 56, of Hilltown Township, formerly of Hatboro, went Home to be with the Lord suddenly on Saturday, October 1, 2011, in St. Luke’s Quakertown Hospital, Quakertown.
Born in Abington, he was the son of Gladys M. (Lodge) Schell, of Perkasie, and the late Thomas W. Schell.
Steve was a 1973 graduate of Hatboro-Horsham High School.
A retail warehouse clerk, Mr. Schell had been employed by Target, Richland Township, for the past three months. Prior to that, he had worked at Wal-Mart, Hilltown Township, for 16 years, and at Sears Hardware, Warminster.
Steve was a caring, loving person. He especially adored birds and his pets. He was a member of The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
An avid fan of the Phillies, Steve also was a fan of the Eagles.
His family was of utmost importance to him. He was an extremely devoted and loving uncle to his niece and nephews, who nicknamed him "Uncle T."
In addition to his mother, Stephen is survived by his sister, Deborah A. Gunter, and her husband, Paul, of Perkasie; two nephews: Scott T. Gunter, of Perkasie; and Christopher Gunter, currently on active military duty in Iraq; one niece, Stacey Gunter, of Perkasie; his dog, "Miko;" and his two cats: "Patches" and "Callie."
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas W. Schell.
His memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 7, 2011, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
