Mary O. (Osipowicz) Schaffner

April 9, 1908 — July 7, 2007

Mary O. Schaffner, 99, a long-time resident of West Rockhill Township, passed away peacefully, early Saturday morning, July 7, in the Lutheran Community at Telford. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick C. Schaffner, who died in 1990.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter the late Walter and Anastasia (Kosura) Osipowicz.

Mary had worked many years as a secretary for her late husband’s auto dealership, the former Schaffner Motors, Sellersville. Prior to that, she had owned and operated a children’s clothing shop for several years in Quakertown.

She was a longtime member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Sellersville.

Mary owned Paso Fino horses that she loved showing all over the Eastern United States. She also enjoyed being outdoors doing yard work.

She is survived by her son, Fred, and his companion, LaRue Hinkle, Perkasie; two grandchildren: Susan Schaffner, New Jersey, and Tom Schaffner and his wife, Kathy, Collegeville; two great-granddaughters: Grace and MacKenna; one brother, Emil Osipower and his wife, Elsie, Coopersburg; and a sister, Flossie Jackson, Sellersville.

Her memorial service will be held Friday, July 13, at 10:30 AM in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville. Family and friends may call Friday morning at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until time of service.

Interment will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 25 East Church Street, Sellersville, PA 18960 or The Lutheran Community at Telford, 235 North Washington Street, Telford, PA 18969.
