Fred C. Schaffner, Jr.

Fred C. Schaffner, Jr., a long-time resident of Sellersville, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022, in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. He was 90.
He was the partner of LaRue Hinkle for more than 30 years.
Born in Perkasie, he was the son of the late Fred, Sr. and Mary (Osipowicz) Schaffner. He was a 1950 graduate of Sell-Perk High School.
Fred had been employed for nearly 30 years in the family-owned Chrysler and Dodge dealership and service center, Schaffner Motors, of Sellersville. He had also worked for over 10 years as a general crushed stone and black top driver for local businesses.
As a young man, Fred had enjoyed hunting in Canada with his father and uncles. A pet lover his entire life, whether horses, ponies, or dogs, Fred, in his later years, would guarantee a safe haven to any cat who happened to arrive at his and LaRue’s home. He also loved working around his house and barn and keeping his cars in top running order.
Willing always to lend a helping hand to those in need, Fred most especially doted on news of his grandchildren and their latest sports events, academic achievements, and various interests.
In addition to LaRue, he is survived by his son, Tom Schaffner and his wife, Kathleen; three grandchildren: Grace, Zachary, and MacKenna; two great-grandchildren; his step-daughter, Tina (Hinkle) Hotter, and her husband, Chuck, and their son, Greg; his step-son, Todd Hinkle, and his wife, Val, and their children, Jason, Destiny (and her husband, Alex), and Michael.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Schaffner, in 2013.
His Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Interment in Whitemarsh Memorial Park will be private at the convenience of the family.
