Roy L. Roth

Roy L. Roth, formerly a life-long resident of Sellersville, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at The Village at LifeQuest, Quakertown. He was 90
.
He was the beloved husband of Helen E. (Czernes) Roth. They would have celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary in June.

Born in Sellersville, he was the son of the late Elmer S. and Caroline (Kemmerer) Roth. Roy was a 1951 graduate of Sell-Perk High School.

A U. S. Army veteran, Mr. Roth served stateside during the Korean War.

Roy was a long-time member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Sellersville, where he had served for many years as a sexton.

Mr. Roth had been employed for decades as a printer of gauges and meters at the former Emico Company, Perkasie. Working from his residence, Roy had also crafted original screen-printed design t-shirts for local companies and sports teams.

A legendary pitcher for the locally-renowned semi-professional Redbirds baseball team during the 1950s, Roy became an equally popular pitcher for the Pennridge Church Softball League in later years, earning a reputation as a powerhouse winner. He also played for the North Penn Gun Club in the Industrial Fast Pitch Softball League for many years.

Always physically active, Roy had enjoyed snowmobiling and maintaining the grounds at his home. He and Helen had also loved watching the birds and other wildlife that were drawn to their creek-side residence. In later years, Roy and Helen especially enjoyed frequent bus trips and cruises with friends.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Roth is survived by his two children: Thomas L. Roth and his wife, Debra L., of Quakertown, and Jeanine L. Stear, of Sellersville; five grandchildren: Roy A. Roth, of Lansdale, Corrie R. Affonso, of San Diego, CA, Jordan Stear and his wife, Rachel, of Easton, Ellie Park and her husband, Jason, of Telford, and Ian Stear and his wife, Rachel, of Boyertown; four great-grandchildren; and his loving feline companion, “Moe.”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Roy’s name may be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 104 Green Street, Sellersville, PA 18960.
