Mary Cabot Rodgers, of Perkasie, formerly of Buckingham and Rye, New York, passed away peacefully at her residence, on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Surrounded by family and a dear friend, her bedroom filled with light and as it illuminated, she was escorted in God's Glory with His Angels to her home in Heaven with her Savior Christ Jesus. She was 76.
She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas E. Rodgers, Sr. and the late Daniel Blake Burns.
Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Marcus Cabot, M.D. and Mary Lucci Cabot, RN. She was a graduate of Manhattanville College, Purchase, New York, where she studied Pre-Med. and then majored in English.
An ordained minister of the United Christian Church Ministerial Association since 1985, Mrs. Rodgers had been employed with Biblical teaching in the Buckingham area. She was also the coordinator of Women Aglow, the Doylestown chapter, which met at the Doylestown Country Club.
While living in New York, she had implemented and spearheaded a tutorial program at Manhattanville College. As a younger woman, she had also worked as a model and was featured in Town & Country magazine.
Mrs. Rodgers was a member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution).
A gifted concert pianist, Mary also loved to sing. She enjoyed ballet dancing, figure skating, and horseback riding.
Renowned for her hospitality, big heart, and devout faith, Mary was a valiant woman of prayer, who cared for the needy and found great purpose in helping others. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and needlepoint. Mary especially loved spending cherished time with God, her children, and fifteen grandchildren. They were her joys and she theirs!
Mary is survived by her children: Elizabeth A. Burns-Kirby and her husband, Paul, of Hingham, Massachusetts; Daniel Cabot Burns, of Tarpon Springs, Florida; Mary Alice "Mimi" Burns-Collich and her husband, William, of Perkasie; stepson, Thomas E. Rodgers, Jr., of Miami Beach, Florida.; fifteen grandchildren; and her sister, Ann Cabot Williams, of Charleston, South Carolina. She leaves a legacy of love...
Her funeral service will be held at 11a.m., Saturday, January 12, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Friends and family may call Saturday morning at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Interment will follow in Sellersville Cemetery.
