Mildred M. Righter, of Palm, formerly of Roxborough and Morgantown, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, in Genesis Health Care-Pennsburg Manor. She was the beloved wife of William R. Righter for 22 years and the late Dr. T. Upton Cleary, VMD and the late Richard Bleim. She was 93.
Born in Shanesville, Berks County, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Elsie (Wolfgang) Galloway.
Mildred was a 1940 graduate of Pottstown High School, where she had perfect attendance, never missing one day of school in twelve years.
Primarily a homemaker, Mildred had been employed as an assistant in her late husband’s veterinary office. During World War II she had worked at Bethlehem Steel, assisting with the war effort.
Mrs. Righter had attended St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pennsburg.
She had been a member of the Wissahickon Valley Canoe Club, Roxborough.
A lover of nature and all animals, especially dogs, cats, and horses, Mildred also enjoyed growing orchids and bird watching.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Righter is survived by her children: Joan Yoka and her husband, Louis, of Reading; Jean Gray and her husband, Robert, of Georgia; Daniel Bleim and his wife, Phyllis, of Willow Grove; her step-children: Ken Righter and his wife, Stephanie, of Barto; Joanne O’Rourke, of Chalfont; Cathy Righter, of New Britain; Thomas Righter and his wife, Jamie, of Green Lane; and Marybeth Jordan and her husband, Douglas, of Pittstown, NJ.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, thirteen step great-grandchildren, a brother, Lenny Galloway, of Boyertown, and her German shepherd, “Heidi.”
In addition to her first and second husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Galloway, and her German shepherd, “Timber.”
Her memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, in St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 81 Main Street, Pennsburg, PA 18073, with a visitation from 10 -11a.m.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
