Rhoda E. Rehnert, of Sellersville, formerly a long-time resident of Bethlehem, passed away Saturday, June 29, in the Rockhill Mennonite Community, West Rockhill Township. She was 88.
Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Marion (Cole) Mack.
Rhoda was a 1941 graduate of Liberty High School. She later graduated from Harcum Junior College, Bryn Mawr.
She had been employed as a secretary at the Bethlehem Contracting Company and Bethlehem Steel Company.
Upon her marriage in 1946, Mrs. Rehnert moved to Johnstown.
After her return to the Lehigh Valley, Rhoda had been employed as a secretary for 44 years at the First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem and as a receptionist for 19 years at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem.
Rhoda was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem for 54 years.
She loved to spend time with her family, especially traveling to the shore and Disney parks in Florida.
Mrs. Rehnert is survived by her daughter, Carolyn A. Schaupp and her husband, Carl, of Chalfont; her son, Douglas P. Rehnert, of Bethlehem; three grandchildren: Douglas J. Rehnert, of Lutz, FL; Amanda Schaupp, of Albuquerque, NM; and Amy Rehnert, of Bethlehem.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
