Anthony J. “Sheriff” Ranjo, 85, of Sellersville, formerly of Germantown, passed away Tuesday, July 8 at Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. He was the husband of Vreni (Blaettler) Ranjo for 38 years.
Born in West Hazelton, he was the son of the late Bronislaw and Pauline (Przybek) Randzio.
From 1938-1939, Mr. Ranjo served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Oregon and Washington. .
He was employed as an electrical service technician for the former ITE Circuit Breaker, later ASEA Brown Boveri (ABB), Philadelphia, retiring in 1985 after 43 years.
Mr. Ranjo was a long-time member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hilltown, where he was active with the Senior Group and had volunteered with the parish’s former carnival. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 9736, Hilltown . He was a member of the local Swiss Club.
An avid reader, hunter and fisherman, Mr. Ranjo also enjoyed all sports, especially Notre Dame football.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a step-daughter, Monica Bruder and her husband, Hansruedi, Switzerland ; three grandchildren: Christian, Reto and Jeanette Bruder, two great-grandsons: Daniel and Marvin Bruder, all of Switzerland; his four sisters and brothers: Helen T. Merryman and her husband, Chester, Glenside; Leo Ranjo and his wife, Harriet, Philadelphia; Violet Hrin, Doylestown; and Stella Doherty and her husband, Edward, Collegeville. He was preceded in death by his sisters: Josephine Wojcik; Agnes Capps; Elizabeth Coyne; Sister Maria Christi, IHM; Pauline Antonietti; and a brother, Bernard Ranjo.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, July12, at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Route 152 and Broad Street, Hilltown. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be private.
