Elizabeth E. “Betty” Puchert, 76, of Green Lane, formerly of Red Hill and Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2014, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Vincent James Longello.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Eric and Mary (Kneer) Puchert.
Betty was a 1955 graduate of Little Flower High School, Philadelphia, where she had played the drums and piano in the school orchestra.
She had been employed as a waitress in several area restaurants for many years.
Betty had been a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Pennsburg for over 40 years. She was a volunteer at the parish school, where she had also helped in the library and school kitchen.
A fan of the beach, Betty especially loved Ocean City, New Jersey and concerts at its Music Pier. An avid genealogist, Betty also enjoyed attending and running yard sales.
She loved the Mummers and on New Year’s Day always imitated the Mummers strut. She was also a supporter of the USO. A kind, caring woman, she delighted in her friends, and her thank you notes were especially cherished for their sincerity and style.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Carol A. (Longello) Knauff and her husband, William, of Green Lane; a granddaughter, Ellen Elizabeth Knauff; and the family dog, “Blackie.”
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three grandsons: William James, Daniel Gerard, and Andrew Vincent Knauff; and a sister, Rosemary Shetter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg, PA 18073, where a visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg.
In her memory, the family requests acts of kindness offered to another or a donation to the charity of one’s choice.
