Martha V. "Marty" Pizza, 68, a thirty year resident of Perkasie, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth E. Pizza. They would have celebrated their 46th anniversary on November 14.
Born in Salford Township, she was the daughter of the late E. Paul and Anna (Blank) Barndt. Martha was a 1960 graduate of Souderton High School.
Mrs. Pizza was employed as a licensed reflexologist. Prior to that, she had been employed at the former American Olean Tile, Lansdale. She had also worked as a nurse’s aide for several years at Rockhill Mennonite Community and at Lemmon Pharmaceutical, both of Sellersville.
She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville, where she was active with the CYAA and Christmas Bazaar and served as an usher.
Mrs. Pizza had served as the past secretary of the Pennridge Music Association.
Martha loved swimming and especially enjoyed going to the shore and casinos. She was also an avid Phillies, Eagles and Flyers fan.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Pizza is survived by her two sons: the Rev. Canon Kenneth E. Wagner-Pizza, Jr. and his wife, Rebecca, of Williamsport; Keith Pizza, of Perkasie; two grandsons: Zachary and Alex; two brothers: E. Carl Barndt, of Salford Township; Linford Barndt and his wife, Anna, of Salford Township; four sisters: Arlene Smith and her husband, Lester, of Souderton; Catharine Hangey, of Finland; Helen Kratz and her husband, Ellis, of Norristown; Dorothy Evans, of Royersford; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Barndt, of Sellersville.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel and Harvey Barndt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 12, at 10:00 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville. Family and friends may call Thursday night at the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and at the church Friday morning from 9:00 AM until 9:50 AM.
Interment will be in Sellersville Cemetery.
