Kenneth E. Pizza, 73, a long-time resident of Perkasie, died on Saturday, June 30, 2012, in Quakertown Center - Genesis HealthCare, Quakertown. He was the beloved husband of the late Martha V. (Barndt) Pizza, who died in November 2010. They had been married 45 years at the time of her death.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Angelo A. and Angelina (Marino) Pizza. The family later moved to West Rockhill Township, where he grew up on Goldmine Road.
Ken was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Pizza was employed for over 15 years with U.S. Gauge/Ametek, Inc. and its Hunter Spring Division. Prior to that, he was a sewing machine mechanic for various clothing factories in Bucks and Montgomery counties. After his retirement he worked with the Pennridge School District.
He was a long-time, active member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville, where he had served as sexton and an usher. He was a member of CYAA and helped with the annual Christmas Bazaar.
Mr. Pizza had volunteered with the Pennridge Music Association. He was also a member of the Sellersville American Legion, Nase-Kraft Post No. 255.
Ken enjoyed hunting, gardening, riding his John Deere tractors and going to car shows. Along with his wife, he liked swimming and watching sports on TV.
Mr. Pizza is survived by his two sons: the Rev. Canon Kenneth E. Wagner-Pizza, Jr. and his wife, Rebecca, of Williamsport; Keith Pizza, of Perkasie; two grandsons: Zachary and Alex; two sisters: Mildred Seachrist and her husband, Fred, Souderton; Patricia Hoffman and her husband, Scott, Harleysville; two brothers: Charles Pizza and his wife, Marie, Telford, Theodore Pizza, Alburtis; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Pizza was preceded in death by a brother, Angelo M. Pizza; and a sister, Anna Marie Peart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 6, at 10: 00 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville. Family and friends may call Thursday night, July 5, at the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and at the church Friday morning from 9:00 AM until 9: 50 AM.
Interment with military honors will be in Sellersville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
