Irvin Pinto

December 14, 1923 — October 25, 2016

Irvin Pinto, of Sellersville, formerly a long-time resident of Hatboro and Ship Bottom, NJ, passed away at his residence in The Community at Rockhill, West Rockhill Township, joining his wife in Glory, on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. He was 92.

He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth M. (Burcaw) Pinto for 59 years until her death in 2006.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Jacob and Selma (Oster) Pinto. He was a 1942 graduate of West Philadelphia High School.

Mr. Pinto was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the North African and Italian Theaters of Operation during World War II.

Following his return to civilian life, Irvin earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Temple University and, later, his Master of Science from the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Pinto had been employed for ten years as a vocational auto mechanics teacher at Abington Senior High School. He subsequently became the co-ordinator of the Eastern Montgomery County Vo-Tech School, Willow Grove.

After moving to Ship Bottom, he became the business manager of Southern Regional School District, Manahawkin, NJ, from which he retired in 1986.

Irvin had attended First Baptist Church, of Perkasie. Formerly, he had attended Doylestown Baptist Church, Manahawkin Baptist Church, and Feasterville Baptist Church, where he had taught Sunday school.

Mr. Pinto is survived by his son, George Pinto, and his wife, Merry, of Perkasie; a daughter, Gail F. Small, and her husband, Jason, of Bluffton, South Carolina; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Julian, and two sisters, Estelle and Leona.

A visitation will be held from 7-8:30 p.m., Thursday, October 27, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, October 28, in Sunset Memorial Park, 333 County Line Road, Feasterville, PA 19053.
