Ralph E. Pettit, 87, a long-time resident of Sellersville, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2011, in St. Luke’s Quakertown Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Muriel E. (Crouthamel) Pettit.
Born in Sybertsville (Luzerne County), he was the son of the late Harry and Elsie (Young) Pettit.
Before moving to Sellersville in 1966, Mr. Pettit had been employed as a butcher for Warren Miller Meat Cutters, of Tamaqua, and Rehrig’s Meats, of Ashfield. For many years he had been employed as a meat cutter at the former Acme Markets, at various local stores.
Mr. Pettit was a member of St. Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sellersville.
Ralph had been a longstanding member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1539; the American Legion Nase-Kraft Post 255, both of Sellersville; and the Perkasie Owls.
Mr. Pettit is survived by his four daughters: Linda Pekurny and her husband, George, of Lehighton; Arlene DiIenno and her husband, Thomas, of Slatington; Cathie Kresge and her husband, Dennis, of Newfoundland; Karen Rose and her husband, Dan, of Perkasie; three sons: Ralph R. Pettit and his wife, Sandra, of Lehighton; Allen Pettit and his wife, Lan, of Lehighton; William Pettit, of Jim Thorpe; seventeen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Clara Masteller, of Norwood; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, April 29, at 12:00 noon in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call Thursday evening, April 28, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM or Friday morning, from 11:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ralph’s name may be made to St. Luke’s VNA Hospice, 1510 Valley Center Parkway, Suite 200, Bethlehem, PA 18017.
