Patrick D. Pettie, of Quakertown, formerly of Sellersville, passed away suddenly in his sleep at his residence on Sunday, March 2, 2014. He was 54.
Born in Sellersville, he was the son of Doreene (Gomez) Pettie, of Sellersville, and the late Walter E. Pettie, Sr.
Patrick had been self-employed for more than 30 years as a fence contractor. More recently, he had assisted his mother in running the family business, Wayside Gardens, Sellersville.
A “jack of all trades,” Patrick could repair anything, especially cars. He enjoyed fishing and camping and the outdoors. He was an excellent cook, especially enjoying grilling. Always fascinated with the weather, he regularly monitored several weather websites.
With a jovial personality, Patrick loved to make people laugh. Known affectionately as “Uncle Gimpy,” he was a devoted uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, Patrick is survived by his children: Patrick S. Pettie, of Coopersburg; Katrina Collison, of Coopersburg; Sandra Collison, of Allentown; a granddaughter, Jayla Collison; three sisters and two brothers : Theresa M. Sitko and her husband, Henry J., of Sellersville; Christopher J. Pettie, of Boise, Idaho; Kathleen M. Gerhart and her husband, Willard H., of Sellersville; Nicholas Walter Pettie, Sr. and his wife, Deborah, of Kintnersville; Maria A. Shultz, of Doylestown; Tina R. (Brown) Pettie, of Coopersburg; girlfriend and companion, Lisa Allgair, of Quakertown; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two infant brothers, Walter Jr. and Michael Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 8 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960, where a visitation will be held from 6 p. m. until time of service.
Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home to help defray expenses.
