Vivian M. (Higgs) Peterson

March 1, 1925 — January 5, 2015

Vivian M. Peterson, a six- year resident of Sellersville, formerly a 45-year resident of Riverside, California, passed away in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township, on Monday, January 5, 2015 from heart failure. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur R. Peterson for 64 years until his death in 2009. She was 89.

Born in Rushville, Nebraska in March 1925, she was a daughter of the late Herbert M. and Emma (Vodicka) Higgs.

Mrs. Peterson had been employed in school administration for the Corona Norco School District, Norco, California for 25 years.

Vivian loved spending time with her family and traveling with her husband.

While she lived at the Rockhill Mennonite Community, Sellersville, she had made many friends that she cared for dearly. Vivian and her friends would spend hours working on puzzles, playing dominos and games, going to exercise classes together, and making cookies and crafts.

Mrs. Peterson especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow into caring, productive adults and sharing time with her fun-loving great-grandchildren.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, she will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her three sons: James L. Peterson, of Prescott, Arizona; Michael R. Peterson, of Thousand Oaks, California; Howard A. Peterson, of Perkasie, Pennsylvania; four granddaughters; two great-grandsons; six great-granddaughters (with one more on the way); and a brother, Jerry M. Higgs, of Sheridan, Wyoming.

Graveside services will be held at 11a.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in Olivewood Memorial Park, Riverside, California.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association/ American Stroke Association, P.O. Box 742030, Los Angeles, CA 90074.
