Carl F. Oertel, 76, of the Rockhill Mennonite Community, West Rockhill Township, formerly of Unadilla, New York, passed away early Friday morning, November 16, 2007 at his residence.
Born in Muskegon, Michigan, he was a son of the late John C. and Wanda H. (Devries) Oertel.
Mr. Oertel had attended Rutgers University and was employed as a mechanical engineer for several New Jersey production companies, including Sandvik, Fairlawn, NJ and ABEX Corporation, Mahwah, NJ and as a subcontractor for Sony Corporation , Mahwah, NJ. He also was employed in the mechanical engineering laboratories at Lehigh University, Bethlehem.
He was a Catholic.
An avid reader and car enthusiast, Mr. Oertel was science-oriented, with an interest in mechanical design. He was also a great outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, hiking, bird watching, and sailing.
He is survived by his three daughters: Lorraine Pento and her husband, Gary, Perkasie; Carol Adams and her husband, Richard, Langhorne; Mary Ellen Oertel, Sonoma ,CA; and five grandsons: Jonna Pento, Bryan Adams, Drew Pento, Jesse Adams, and Richard Adams.
Funeral Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
