Richard P. Nice

October 29, 1929 — August 28, 2013

Richard P. Nice, a long-time resident of Hilltown Township, passed away late Wednesday evening, August 28, 2013, at Frederick Living, Upper Frederick Township. He was the beloved husband of the late Gertrude Emma (Dietrich) Nice for 32 years until her death in 1986. He was 83.

Born in Kensington, Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Price P. and Beatrice (Behney) Nice. He was a 1948 graduate of Hilltown High School.

Mr. Nice was a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.

Richard had been self-employed as a builder for many years. He later worked for the former Estate of Geo. S. Snyder, Hatfield, installing and remodeling kitchens.

A talented woodworker, Richard also enjoyed refinishing furniture and repairing clocks. He had built the family home in Hilltown as well.

Mr. Nice is survived by his two sons: Brad Nice and his wife, Sandy, of Collegeville; Jim Nice and his wife, Kathy, of Fairfax, Virginia; and four grandchildren: Richard, Brandy, Jason, and Journalda.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, the Rev. Harry G. Nice.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, September 7, at St. Peter’s Covenant Church, 1006 Hilltown Pike, Hilltown, PA 18927, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service. A calling hour will also be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday evening, September 6, at the Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960.

Interment with full military honors will be in St. Peter’s Union Cemetery, Hilltown.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Nice’s memory made be made to the Village of Hope Lazarus Project, with a check made payable to VOH and sent to: VOH, Inc., 300 East Yamato Rd., Boca Raton, FL 33431.
