Marcella J. Moyer

Marcella J. Moyer, 92, a 17 year resident of Rockhill Mennonite Community, West Rockhill Township, formerly a long-time resident of Blooming Glen, went home to be with the Lord, Friday afternoon, September 5, at Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township.
Born in Blooming Glen, she was the daughter of the late Irwin M. and Margaret S. (Johnson) Moyer. She was a graduate of the former Hilltown High School and West Chester University.
Miss Moyer taught 43 years in the Pennridge School District, mostly the second grade at West Rockhill Elementary School, until retiring in 1978. A beloved teacher, she had helped to shape the lives of over 800 children. In her honor, for the last twenty years of her teaching career, her classroom was painted pink, her favorite color.
She was a life-long member of St. Peter’s Covenant Church, Hilltown, where she had sung in the choir and taught the teenage Sunday School class for 64 years. An active and devoted church member, Miss Moyer was a true Bible Scholar. Her church family was her family.
Marcella was an involved volunteer at the Rockhill Mennonite Community. She also had been a member of the Grand View Hospital Auxiliary and its Blooming Glen Auxiliary.
She was an avid reader, an accomplished pianist, and she enjoyed her dark chocolate.
Miss Moyer is survived by her dear friend and care giver, Donna J. Trumbower and her husband, Tom, of Perkasie, along with their three children: Sally, Douglas and Marcella, her namesake; her life-long friends at the Rockhill Community: Lydia Lewis, Carolyn Ziegler, (her college roommate) and Ruth Tevebaugh; and her church family of St. Peter’s Covenant Church, Hilltown. In addition to her parents, Marcella was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Naomi Moyer and her husband, Ira.
Her Funeral Service will be held Friday morning, September 12 at 11:00 AM in St. Peter’s Covenant Church, 1006 Hilltown Pike, Hilltown. Friends may call at the church Friday, from 10:00 AM until time of service. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Union Cemetery, Hilltown.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday afternoon, September 12 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of the Rockhill Mennonite Community, 3250 State Road, Sellersville, PA 18960.
