Margaret Mary "Peg" Moffitt, 64, a resident of Sellersville for 35 years, passed away on Thursday, April 8, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township. She was the beloved wife of Fred W. Moffitt, Sr., for 36 years.
Born in Abington, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Rita (Harold) Shannon.
Peg had been employed in the photo studio of the former Leeds and Northrup, North Wales and later as a hostess at Inn Flight, Colmar. She was also employed by the Pennridge School District, having worked as an aide at Grasse Elementary and West Rockhill Elementary. Peg retired from the district in 2007 after many years at Pennridge High School as a Special Education aide.
Mrs. Moffitt was also a former Sellersville Borough Councilperson.
Peg was a long-time member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville, where she had taught CCD classes and had volunteered at the annual Christmas Bazaar.
Mrs. Moffitt had also volunteered at Salfid Rescue, Souderton.
An avid bowler, Peg had recently bowled a 255 game. She also loved the beach and going to casinos with her friends.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her four children: Melissa Corbin and her husband, Rich, of Moorestown, New Jersey; Fred W. Moffitt, Jr., of Sellersville; Michael A. Moffitt and his wife, Donna, of Coatesville; Steven S. Moffitt and his wife, Heather, of Richlandtown; three grandchildren: Hannah, Caroline, Hunter; two brothers: Michael Shannon and his wife, Linda, of Warminster; Raymond Shannon and his wife, Carol, of Deptford, New Jersey; and a sister, Maryann McGrath and her husband, John, Woodbury, New Jersey.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 13, at 11:00 AM in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday night, April 12, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM or on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until time of service.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations in Peg’s name be made to Salfid Rescue, 1932 Clearview Road, Souderton, PA 18964.
