John P. "Jack" Mcgrenra

John P. “Jack” McGrenra, of Dublin, formerly a long-time resident of Bensalem, passed away Wednesday, April 10, at his residence. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen (Rogers) McGrenra, who died in 2003. He was 81.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Patrick John and Catherine (McNamee) McGrenra.

Jack was a graduate of West Catholic High School, Philadelphia. He later received his Associates degree in electronics from Temple University and graduated from LaSalle University with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics.

Mr. McGrenra was a U. S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.

He had been employed for many years as a systems engineer at IBM, in Philadelphia, retiring in 1993.

Jack had been a member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hilltown, where he had served as an usher.

Mr. McGrenra was a past commander of American Legion Post 214, Upper Darby.

John is survived by his two daughters: Helen P. McGowan and her husband, Jim, of Hilltown; Marie A. Kilgore and her husband, Tom, of Bensalem; five granddaughters: Lauren Murphy and her husband, Patrick; Allison McGowan; Colleen McGowan; Rita Kilgore; Grace Kilgore; and his sister, Sister Patricia M. McGrenra, of Philadelphia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, April 15, in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rte. 152 & Broad Street, Hilltown, PA 18927. Friends may call from 6 pm until 8 pm, Sunday evening, April 14, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960 and from 9 am until 9:45 am, Monday, April 15, at the church.

Interment with military honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.
