Joseph C. Mcdonagh, Sr.

March 17, 1918 — August 3, 2010

Joseph Charles McDonagh, Sr., 92, of Perkasie, entered into eternity Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Helen (Dunphy) McDonagh for 67 years.

Born in New York City, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Shelley) McDonagh.

Mr. McDonagh was a U.S. Army Infantry veteran, having served during World War II.

He was employed for many years as the art director at Young and Rubicam, New York City and Chicago. He left to establish his own advertising agency in Holland.

Mr. McDonagh was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville.

With his wife, he volunteered at Grand View Hospital, where he did the calligraphy for birth certificates.

Mr. McDonagh actively pursued his artistic and intellectual endeavors until the end of his life.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Joseph McDonagh, Jr., and his wife, Maureen, of Peosta, IA; Doreen Crockett, and her husband, Nathaniel, of Chalfont; Dave McDonagh, and his wife, Penny, of Brownington, VT; Kara McDonagh of Baltimore, MD; and seven grandchildren.

Mr. McDonagh was preceded in death by his beloved sister and brother, Lillian Clifford and Frank McDonagh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 6, 2010, at 10:00 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Family and friends may call on Thursday evening, August 5, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, at the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960.

Interment will be in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Hilltown.

Memorial donations in Mr. McDonagh’s name may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
