Richard L. Mayer, of Mertztown, formerly of Sellersville, passed away suddenly at his residence on Monday, January 18. He was 64.
He was the beloved husband of Donna (Heiser) Mayer. They would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on January 31.
Born in Sellersville and raised in Lansdale, he was the son of the late Joseph and Gladys (Dunkleberger) Mayer.
Rick was a 1969 graduate of North Penn High School.
Mr. Mayer had been employed as a truck driver for several local businesses, including MOPAC, Ziegler’s Apple Cider, and Penn Stainless Products.
He was a member of the North Penn Gun Club.
An avid sports fan, Rick followed all Philadelphia teams, especially the Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers. He also enjoyed NASCAR, dirt track racing, and sprint cars.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Richard Lee Mayer, Jr., and his wife, Dannielle, of Sellersville; a daughter, Melissa Mayer, and her boyfriend, Benjamin Ludlow, of Quakertown; two grandchildren, Caiden Ludlow and Ford Lee Mayer; two sisters, Janet Wagner, of Georgia, and JoAnne Mensinger and her husband, Wayne, of Green Lane; two brothers, Ronald Patzer, of Sellersville, and Peter Patzer and his wife, Denise, of North Wales; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, “Rocky.”
His Memorial Service will be held from 1- 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2016, at his son’s residence, 465 East Ridge Avenue, Sellersville, PA 18960.
