Rosemarie J. (Salvaggio) Maurer

March 14, 1931 — October 26, 2009

Rosemarie J. Maurer, 78, a resident of Perkasie for 48 years, passed away Monday afternoon, October 26, 2009, in Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown Township, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Edgar M. Maurer, with whom she would have celebrated 49 years of marriage on November 12.

Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late John and Rose (Simonelli) Salvaggio. She was a 1949 graduate of Liberty High School, Bethlehem.

A talented musician, Rosemarie played alto saxophone. She was first chair in the all-girl Lehigh Valley Symphony Orchestra. She also played in the all-girl band, "Swingettes," in the Allentown-Bethlehem area and in Dick Kresge’s band, Bethlehem.

Mrs. Maurer had been employed for 25 years in food services with the Pennridge School District, working at the former South Junior High and West Rockhill Elementary schools.

She was a longtime member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville.

Mrs. Maurer loved to read and also enjoyed needlecrafts.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two children: Donna M. Kernechel, and her companion, Robert, of Perkasie; and John E. Maurer, and his wife, Stephanie, of East Rockhill Township; three grandchildren: Stephanie Fegley, and her husband, Christopher, of Bethlehem; Mackenzie Maurer; and Ryan Maurer, both of East Rockhill Township; three sisters: Mary Webber, and her husband, Lawrence, of Haycock Township; Lucia McCandless, of Reading; and Fran Leniger, of Perkasie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 2, 2009, at 11:00 AM in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville. Family and friends may call Monday morning at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service.

Interment will follow in St. Luke’s Union Cemetery, Dublin.
