Patricia C. Maurer, 73, of Hatfield, formerly of Lansdale, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2012, in Elm Terrace Gardens, Lansdale. She was the beloved wife of James L. Maurer for 39 years.
Born in Sellersville, she was the daughter of the late Clyde W. and Dorothy E. (Leightcap) Benner. Patricia was a 1957 graduate of North Penn High School and a 1959 graduate of the Bryn Mawr School of Nursing.
Following her graduation, Pat was employed as a Registered Nurse (R.N.) at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore. She attained her certification as a Critical Care R.N. and later became head nurse of the CCU at Johns Hopkins.
Pat then began her long, distinguished career at the former Sacred Heart Hospital, Norristown, until its closure in 1994. For nearly 30 years, Mrs. Maurer served as nursing supervisor and head of the Outpatient Procedure Lab.
She retired in 2001, after working for several years at Foulkeways at Gwynedd.
Mrs. Maurer had been a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lansdale.
She had belonged to the Venture Club of Lansdale.
Pat will be sorely missed by all she has endeared herself to over the years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sister, Marcy L. Perks, and her husband, Gordon, of Colmar; her adopted sister, Bonnie McDonald, of Souderton; several uncles; an aunt; many cousins and friends; and her pet cat, "Sunshine."
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 8, 2012, in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1000 West Main Street, Lansdale, PA 19446. Family and friends may call at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.
Interment will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville.
